Body Image

September 2017 my ‘Altogether’ Exhibition took place at Sun Pier House Chatham and the flyer is below:

For a full write up, reflection and testimonials about the exhibition please read my blog here.

My Nude project started in 2013, photos have featured in ‘Post Nude’ at the Horsebridge Centre Whitstable, and in my Medway Open Studios Exhibition.  This was a natural progression from my Beards and Bellys exhibition (photographing individuals to express what their bellys and beards meant to them). I wanted to take this a step further to celebrate who we are, without the adornments of clothing, (and photoshop) to take it back to basics of who we all are underneath that.  It enabled individuals to celebrate the core of them, warts, belly, blemishes, appendix scars and all.  A liberating moment.  I have been blessed with having some fantastic models come forward, and as time has continued I have decided to revive this as an ongoing project.

2016 brought a new focus for me; I attended Pandora’s other Box, a womens art groups based in Whitstable.  The ladies here gave me so much confidence to move this project forward; I wanted to take the next in the series in a completely different style; so I did, researching into derelict and quiet out door spaces in which to shoot.  This enabled me to refocus and refine my energy, and to not become to ‘stale’ in my processes and subject matter.  The majority of the shots were taken in 2016 with a few remaining for 2017, these will all feed into an exhibition at Sunpier House Tea Room (Chatham) for the whole of September 2017.

One such photograph will be included; I was incredibly proud to have this piece selected for the ‘Skin‘ Exhibition at the Horsebridge Centre Whitstable August 2016.

These are a sample of a previous shoot, with some unseen photos included:
